The Flight struggled at times this season, but have also proven that they can compete with the league's best--as evidenced by their May 2 victory over the 14-4 Gary Steelheads. The Flight performed the best during thier 4 game west-coast swing where Grand Rapids went 2-2 including wins over the Central Oregon Hotshots and China, but last second losses to Portland and an overtime loss to Vancouver. On the trip, Kenny Langhorne bolstered his scoring average with a 49 point outing against the Vancouver Volcanoes. The Flight looks forward to a strong effort in 2009. Tyler Whitcomb founded the flight in 2005 and kept the team moving for two years. The Flight won 60% of their games in those two years. After the completion of the two years, the original Flight owners sold the team to the IBL and those same owners now own the Holland Blast, a successful team that plays in the Civic Center in Holland Michigan. The Grand Rapids Flight of 2007 and now 2008 want to extend our heartfelt thanks to original founder Tyler Whitcomb, and his co-owners Tom and Fred- for their hard work. Thanks for bringing this team to Grand Rapids!
