The Express won back to back titles in 2006 and 2007 but could not win a third as the Bellingham Slam beat the Elkhart Express 118 to 111 for the IBL 2008 Championship in front of a sold out Whatcom Pavillion in Bellingham Washington. IBL 2008 Championship game story and box score. Two time IBL All-Star Cedric Moodie had another stellar season for the Express. Moodie finished second in the league in scoring at 28.1 points per game. Chris Charles' 9.9 rebounds per game was good for fourth in the IBL.

* The Elkhart Express played (in Shanghai, China) in a new international tournament called 'The Coach’s Cup’ featuring teams from Japan and China hosted by the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. The Express won all four games they played in the tournament, and two of those wins counted as victories in the IBL standings.
