A team called the Akron Lightning played in the IBL's inaugural 2005 season.  The Cuyahoga Falls Cougars (unrelated to Akron Lightning) joined the IBL in 2006.  The Cougars played 20 games, averaging between 400 and 500 fans for their home contests.  Cougars' ownership originally intended to move the Cougars to Akron for the 2007 season, but the team is, instead, being reorganized during the 2007 season as a completely new expansion team to be called the Akron Energy.  The Energy will join the IBL full-time in 2008, but will play four regular season IBL games in 2007.
