2006 Season Game Results

Thursday March 8--'07 (Game 1) - Tennessee () vs. Marysville ()

It was a night of new beginnings, as the International Basketball League kicked off its third season of action.  The Hub City Hurricanes played its first game in team history, while the Meteors played its first game in Marysville, after competing as the Columbus Cyclones in 2006.

Sunday July 16--'06 - 2006 IBL Title Game - Elkhart (119) vs. Columbus (108) OT   

Elkhart had to rally to earn the title--knotting the score at 100 at the end of regulation after being down seven to start the fourth quarter.  Elkhart guard Cedric Moodie earned MVP honors, finishing with a game-high 27 points (including five three pointers) and seven rebounds.  Darmetreis Kilgore added 24 points and nine rebounds for the Express.  Michael Brownlee drained six three pointers en route to a team-high 23 points for Columbus.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday July 15--'06 (Game 248) - IBL All-Star Game - West (179) vs. East (141)

The West squad cruised to a 179-141 victory over a loaded East team. Jay Anderson of the Eugene Chargers got things started for the West with a 17 point first quarter.  Anderson, who finished with five three pointers, earned a co-championship with Shane Conwell of Cuyahoga Falls in the Three Point Shootout by hitting 21 of 25 three pointers in the final.  Ryan Edwards of the Lake County Lakers won the Slam Dunk Contest. Rashaad Powell (photo at right) of the Seattle Mountaineers led all scorers with 31 points.  Powell was named the game’s MVP.  Powell’s teammates from Seattle, Aleksey Adediran and Donald Watts, were also instrumental in the West’s win.  Adediran finished with 28 points, and Watts added 19.  Earnest Cobbin was the East’s top scorer with 27 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday July 15--'06 (Game 247) - Elkhart (160) vs. Holland (150)

The Express and Blast put on a show for the 2,100 fans on hand at North Side Gym--putting up 310 points in a semifinal shootout.  Elkhart's 2006 All-Star selections, Eric Brand and Cedric Moodie, came up big in the victory.  Brand finished with 36 points and 13 rebounds.  Moodie added 29 points and nine assists.  Jared Bledsoe was unstoppable for the Blast, scoring 49 points including seven three pointers. Elkhart moves on to face the Columbus Cyclones for the 2006 IBL Championship.

Saturday July 15--'06 (Game 246) - Columbus (122) vs. Grand Rapids (110)

The Cyclones advanced to Sunday's Championship game with a win over the Flight that was closer than the 12 point final margin indicates.  Michael Brownlee caught fire from behind the arc for Columbus--hitting nine three pointers en route to a game-high 33 points.  Carlton Aarons led the Flight with 28 points and 13 rebounds.  Scoring Summary.       

                                                                                                                                          

Friday July 14--'06 (Game 245) - Elkhart (127) vs. Lansing (96)

The Capital's playoff run came to a halt on Friday, when Lansing faced the top -seeded Express in front of 2,500 fans in North Side Gym.  Elkhart took control of the game early, and was never threatened by the upstart Capitals.  Scoring Summary.

Friday July 14--'06 (Game 244) - Holland (144) vs. Battle Creek (139)   

Holland's victory ensures that a new IBL Champion would be crowned in 2006. The Blast knocked out the defending champs by controlling the fourth quarter--outscoring the Knights 44-33 to advance to tomorrow's semifinal round.  Jared Bledsoe led all scorers with 32 points for Holland.  Bobby Madison and Mike Williams led seven Battle Creek players in double figures with 18 points apiece.  Scoring Summary.

Friday July 14--'06 (Game 243) - Columbus (157) vs. Cuyahoga Falls (135)            

The Cyclones will move on to the semifinals following their convincing victory over the Cougars.  Eight Cyclones scored in double figures in the win, led by 22 points from Esteban Weaver.  Carlton Dean led all scorers with 27 points for the the Cougars.  Scoring Summary.

Friday July 14--'06 (Game 242) - Grand Rapids (119) vs. Elgin (110)

Grand Rapids and Elgin started the quarterfinal action on Friday, with the Flight earning the win behind a dominating fourth quarter effort.  Down eight after three quarters, Grand Rapids outscored Elgin 38-21 in the final period to get the win.  Lamont Barnes led all scorers with 32 points for the Flight.  Brandon Moore and Sherick Simpson topped six Racers in double figures with 19 points each.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday July 13--'06 (Game 241) - Lansing (140) vs. Lake County (139)

The Capitals and Lakers kicked off the 2006 IBL Championship Tournament with a bang--a high scoring thriller that wasn't decided until the final shot.  Lansing had four players score 23 points or more--led by 32 points from Jason Franklin.  Ryan Edwards and Ameer Watts each eclipsed the 30 point mark for the Lakers, with Edwards finishing with a game-high 38 points.  With the win, the Capitals advance to face top seeded Elkhart tomorrow at 7pm.  Scoring Summary.

Friday July 7--' 06 (Game 240) - Holland (133) vs. Lake County (131)

The 240th and final game of the IBL 2006 season took place at the College of Lake County on Friday night. Holland escaped with the win--finishing with a 13-7 record in their first season.  Lake County, despite their spotty record, will be a tough out in the upcoming IBL Championship Tournament.  Jared Bledsoe had another big night for the Blast, scoring 46 points to lead all scorers.  John Jones was the top man for the Lakers, finishing with 33 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday July 1--'06 (Game 239) - Lansing (120) vs. Columbus (131)

The Cyclones wrapped up what has been an extraordinary first regular season in the league.  Columbus' 18-2 mark ties for best in the league through 20 games.  Michael Brownlee led six Cyclones in double figures with 26 points.  Melvin White scored 31 for the Capitals to top all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 238) - Tri-City (105) vs. Chico (102)

With the win, Tri-City ended their season in first place in the IBL's West Division.  Chico ended their season in sixth place.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 237) - Colorado (134) vs. Aurora (139)

Most of the games between these cross-town rivals were close, but Aurora ultimately dominated the season series 5-1. Phillip Hillstock and Michael Morse combined for 70 points for the Cavalry—Hillstock finishing with a game-high 37 points.  Eight Crossover players finished in double figures, with Darius Pope’s 28 points leading the way.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 236) - Elgin (122) vs. Lake County (114)

The Racers closed out their regular season with a tough win against their cross-town rivals.  Six Racers scored in double figures, led by Nick Zachery's 27 points.  Newcomer John Jones paced the Lakers with a game-high 29 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 235) - Battle Creek (151) vs. Grand Rapids (150)

Battle Creek avenged a four point loss to the Flight in the other match-up between these two teams earlier this season.  Grand Rapids scored 150 points in that contest as well.  Each team had seven players finish in double figures in scoring.  Mike Manciel led the Knights with 27 points, and Lamont Barnes was the game's top scorer with 38 points for the Flight.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 234) - Lansing (132) vs. Columbus (156)

This game was actually much closer than the final score indicates.  Lansing rallied to reduce an 18 point first half deficit to one point late in the third quarter.  It was in the last four minutes of the final quarter that Columbus broke the game wide open.  Esteban Weaver led the Cyclones with 27 points.  Melvin White and Rod Hannibal matched Weaver with 27 points each to top the Capitals.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 233) - Holland (123) vs. Elkhart (130)

The win was the 20th of the season for the Express, and guaranteed them the best record in the league, and the top seed in the upcoming IBL Championship Tournament.  Cedric Moodie led the Express with 28 points.  Jared Bledsoe was the game's top scorer, with 29 points for the Blast.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 30--'06 (Game 232) - Cuyahoga Falls (132) vs. West Virginia (138)

The West Virginia Wild wrapped up their inaugural season in the league with a hard-fought victory over the Cougars.  The game was also the regular season finale for Cuyahoga Falls.  JR VanHoose continued his hot streak with a game-high 41 points for the Wild.  The Cougars were led by Earnest Cobbin's 30 points.  Scoring Summary.

Sunday June 25--'06 (Game 230) - Eugene (152) vs. Colorado (143)

The Chargers closed out their 2006 regular season with a road win, to finish 13-7.  Five Chargers scored at least 20 points, led by Larry Morinia and Ethnie Stubbs,  who each finished with 27.  Eric Dow was unstoppable in a losing effort--scoring a game high 53 points for the Crossover.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 228) - Eugene (135) vs. Aurora (142)

The Cavalry's victory moved them into a tie with the Chargers for third place in the IBL's West Division.  Solomon Yearby scored a game-high 36 points for Aurora, including seven three pointers.  Larry Morinia topped four Chargers with at least 20 points by scoring 26.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 227) - Chico (97) vs. Oakland (115)

The victory gave Oakland a 3-2 lead in the season series.  Oakland concluded the regular season with a 10-9 record--a marked improvement from their five win season a year ago.  Solomon Wilkins scored 30 points for the Slammers to lead all scorers.  Franco Harris paced the Force with 23 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 226) - Salem (144) vs. Tacoma (137)

Salem's win left both teams with a .500 record at the end of the regular season.  Jeff Dunn was simply fantastic for the Stampede, draining 10 three pointers on the way to a game-high 46 points.  Kenny Tate topped the Thunder with 37 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 225) - Seattle (104) vs Vancouver (94)

Seattle won on the strength of outstanding performances from Aleksey Adediran and Rashaad Powell in the season finale for both teams.  Adediran scored a game-high 48 points and grabbed 25 rebounds.  Powell narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 steals.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 224) - Lake County (137) vs Cedar Valley (149)

The Jaguars ended the 2006 season with a three game winning streak, culminating in Saturday night's victory over the Lakers.  Roderick Stevenson continued his torrid shooting, finishing with a game-high 46 points for the Jaguars.  Ryan Edwards topped the Lakers with 29 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 24--'06 (Game 223) - West Virginia (137) vs Holland (163)

Holland rolled to their 12th victory of the season on the strength of another outstanding offensive effort.  Eight Blast players scored in double figures, led by 30 points from James Jackson.  Duane Bosma and Jared Bledsoe each added 24 points for Holland.  JR VanHoose led all scorers with 34 points for the Wild.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 222)-Tri-City (171) vs. Oakland (169) 2OT

The final score is not a misprint--the offensive fireworks were flying in bunches at Merritt College on Friday. The Ballers closed out the two-point victory by dominating the boards in the second overtime.  Austin Nichols avenged a narrow miss that would have won the game in regulation by nailing a three pointer with four seconds remaining to force the second overtime. Marquin Chandler had 45 points for the Ballers to lead all scorers.  Nichols finished with 43 points to top the Slammers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 221) - Seattle (144) vs. Tacoma (134)

The Mountaineers dealt Tacoma a rare home loss in winning their 14th game of the season--the most in the West Divison so far this season.  Donald Watts and Rashaad Powell led the Mountaineers' charge with stellar perimeter play.  Watts finished with 38 points, and Powell with 37.  Kenny Tate poured in 45 points for the Thunder to top all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 220) - Vancouver (113) vs. Portland (138)

The Chinooks took control of the game in the first quarter, and never looked back.  Portland led 77-51 at the half.  Brandon Payton scored 29 points to lead four Chinooks with 21 or more points in their regular season finale.  Kevin 'Pip' Bloodsaw paced the Volcanoes with a game-high 35 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 219) - Eugene (131) vs. Colorado (129)

Eugene relied heavily on its reserves on a night when standout center Bonell Colas was limited to eight minutes by a case of food poisoning.  Eugene's bench was the difference down the stretch in the two-point win.  Jay Anderson scored a game-high 27 points for the Chargers.  An impressive eight Crossover players scored in double figures, led by Darius Pope's 22 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 218) - Lake County (126) vs. Cedar Valley (128)

The Jaguars forced a turnover with 7 seconds remaining in the final period to preserve the win.  Roderick Stevenson had one of the best scoring nights of the season with 47 points for the Jags.  Ryan Edwards wasn't far behind--finishing with 41 points for the Lakers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 217) - Grand Rapids (109) vs. Elgin (114)

Elgin earned their 15th victory of the season in front of 812 fans at Judson College.  The Racers trailed by 10 points at the start of the final quarter, but rallied behind the raucous home crowd and the hot shooting of Sherick Simpson.  Simpson finished with 29 points to lead all scorers.  Milo Stovall was the top scorer for the Flight with 25 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 216) - Columbus (138) vs. Battle Creek (139) OT

1,825 fans at Kellogg Arenea watched Battle Creek take their first second half lead with 1:08 left in regulation.  The Knights won the game in the extra period with solid shooting from the free throw line.  The loss drops the Cyclones to second place in the East Division.  Jamel Gooding led the Knights with 27 points.  Esteban Weaver scored 45 points for the Cyclones to lead all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 215) - West Virginia (137) vs. Holland (150)

West Virginia had a solid offensive showing, but could not slow down the surging Blast.  Jared Bledsoe led Holland with 32 points.  Newcomer Brian Snider added 28 points in his first game for the Blast.  JR VanHoose was the game's top scorer with 34 points for the Wild.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 23--'06 (Game 214) - Elkhart (137) vs. Cuyahoga Falls (122)

Elkhart's victory coupled with Columbus' loss gives the Express sole possession of first place in the IBL's East Division.  Cedric Moodie scored a game-high 42 points to lead Elkhart to their league-best 18th win of the season.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday June 22--'06 (Game 213) - Chico (129) vs. Tri-City (130) OT

Chico staged in impressive comeback--rallying from 24 points down in the third quarter to take a two point lead with 2.5 seconds left in regulation.  The Ballers answered with a fade away jumper from Anthony Lackey as time expired to send the game to overtime.  The Ballers weren't done with buzzer beating heroics, as Marquin Chandler drained a three pointer with no time remaining to seal the one-points victory for Tri-City.  Chandler led the Ballers with 28 points.  Chris Gonzales was the game's top scorer, with 46 points for the Force.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday June 22--'06 (Game 212) - Eugene (148) vs. Aurora (151)

The Cavalry returned to their high scoring ways, and used an inspired fourth quarter rally to defeat the red-hot Chargers.  Down 16 at the end of the third quarter, Aurora fought their way back behind outstanding performances from Jamar Bohanon (33 points), Leslie Richardson (31 points), and Michael Morse, who scored a game-high 44 points.  Larry Morinia led the Chargers with 42 points.  Scoring Summary.

Sunday June 18--'06 (Game 211) - Colorado (126) vs. Lake County (131)

Lake County escaped with their second win of the season by surviving a furious Colorado rally in the fourth quarter that cut a 20 point Laker lead to three.  IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilo, who was in attendance, came away impressed with both teams.  "Neither team looked like a team below.500," said Duilio.  "The first round of the playoffs is going to be extremely competive."  Ryan Edwards led all scorers with 27 points for the Lakers.  Scoring Summary.

Sunday June 18--'06 (Game 210) - Aurora (122) vs. Tri-City (145)

Tri-City earned the top spot in the West Division with the win over the shorthanded Cavalry.  Seven Ballers scored in double figures, led by 29 points from Javon Harris.  Leslie Richardson led all scorers with 39 points for Aurora.  Scoring Summary.

Sunday June 18--'06 (Game 209) - West Virginia (131) vs. Cuyahoga Falls (145)

It was a big offensive night for the Cougars, due, in part, to the return of Shane Conwell, and the addition of the league's number two scorer, Ajamu Gaines.  It was Adrick Hills and Earnest Cobbin that led the way for Cuyahoga Falls, with each player scoring 28 points.  JR VanHoose scored 33 points for the Wild to lead all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 17--'06 (Game 208) - Tacoma (114) vs. Seattle (121)

Seattle followed up their dismal 82 point outing against Eugene with a solid effort against the Thunder.  The Mountaineers got double-doubles from Donald Watts (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Albert 'AJ' Stallworth (19 points, 10 rebounds) in the win.  Lamar Morinia led all scorers with 26 points for Tacoma.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 17--'06 (Game 207) - Aurora (127) vs. Oakland (142)

Aurora's road woes continued on Saturday, as they dropped their third straight game in California.  Solomon Wilkins led the offensive charge for Oakland with a game-high 33 points.  Michael Morse was Aurora's top scorer with 31 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 17--'06 (Game 206) - Colorado (100) vs. Waterloo (138)

Colorado had played very solid in the first two games of their current four game road trip, but fatigue caught up with a Crossover squad playing their third road game in as many nights.  The Jaguars capitalized in a big way, controlling the game from the start.  Roderick Stevenson and Terrance McGee combined for 63 points to lead the Jaguars.  Damian Paige scored 23 points to top the Crossover.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 17--'06 (Game 205) - Elgin (117) vs. Elkhart (137)

The Express grabbed their 17th win of the season--staying within a half game of East Division leading Columbus.  Elgin held the lead at the half, but Elkhart's depth and raucous home crowd of 2,171 were too much for the Racers to overcome.  Cedric Moodie hit 15 of 25 shots, finishing with a game-high 40 points for the Express.  Corey Brown topped the Racers with 20 points.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 17--'06 (Game 204) - Battle Creek (117) vs. Columbus (132)

The Cyclones continue to roll--winning their 10th straight game, and their 16th of the season.  Three Cyclones scored at least 22 points, led by a game-high 27 points from Michael Brownlee.  Logan VanderVelden led seven Knights in double figures with 19 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 203) - Tacoma (128) vs. Portland (116)

The Thunder survived a late rally from the Chinooks, before salting the game away from the free throw line in the closing minutes.  Tacoma was led by a game-high 34 points from Lamar Morinia.  Kenny Tate pitched in 27 points.  Fred Hooks paced the Chinooks with 28 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 202) - Seattle (82) vs. Eugene (119)

The Chargers rolled to their 11th victory of the season--improving to third place in the West Division in the process. The loss dropped the Mountaineers to second place in the division.   Larry Morinia and JR Patrick scored 24 points apiece to lead Eugene.  Bonell Colas added 23 points and 15 rebounds.  Rashaad Powell was the top scorer for Seattle with 20 points.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 201) - Aurora (110) vs. Tri-City (136)

Tri-City earned sole possession of first place in the West Divison with the win.  The loss dropped the shorthanded Cavalry to fourth in the division.  Five Ballers scored in double figures, led by 28 points from Markeen Chandler. DJ Stelly scored a season-high 38 points for the Cavalry to lead all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 200) - Elgin (117) vs. Grand Rapids (134)

Grand Rapids got their foundering offense on track behind the solid effort of two new players.  Carlton Aarons led the Flight with 24 points, and Courtney Scott added 22 points in his first game for Grand Rapids.  IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio, on hand for the game, was impressed with Grand Rapids' "beefed up" frontline.   Brandon Moore scored a game-high 35 points to lead the Racers.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 199) - Lansing (123) vs. Elkhart (132)

Elkhart swept the season series with the Capitals with the victory in front of

1,430 fans at North Side Gym.  Lansing closed the Elkhart lead to three points in the fourth quarter, before the Express took control in the closing minutes. Rashi Johnson led seven Express players in double figures with 22 points.  Rod Hannibal scored 21 points to top the Capitals.  Scoring Summary.

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 198) - Macomb County (112) vs. Battle Creek (130)

1,606 fans at Kellogg Arena watched Battle Creek improve to 9-8 on the season with the win.  Every player on the Knights roster scored--inlcuding an impressive nine finishing in double figures. Jay Younblood scored 21 points to top Battle Creek.  Jason McGowan was the game's top scorer with 34 points for the Mustangs.  Scoring Summary. 

Friday June 16--'06 (Game 197) - Colorado (135) vs. Waterloo (132)

The Crossover netted their first road win of the season with the victory.  Darius Pope had his second consecutive big game for the Crossover--following his 34 point outing with a game high 42 points.  Terrance McGee scored 25 points to lead the Jaguars.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday June 15--'06 (Game 196) - Aurora (99) vs. Chico (130)

The Chico Force dealt the Aurora Cavalry their worst defeat of the season--a loss that dropped the Cavalry from first place in the West Division.  Aurora came into the game averaging a league-best 144 points per game.  Chico put the game away with a dominant fourth quarter performance, where they outscored the Cavalry 37-19.  Jason VanEck led all scorers with 31 points for the Force.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday June 15--'06 (Game 195) - Columbus (145) vs. West Virginia (106)

The Cyclones recorded yet another dominant performance en route to their 15th victory of the season.  The win is the ninth straight for Columbus, and improves their record to a league best 15-1.  Frank Gojcaj and JP Maszczak led seven Cyclones in double figures with 21 points each.  The Wild were led by a game-high 33 points from Greg Dennis.  Scoring Summary.

Thursday June 15--'06 (Game 194) - Colorado (127) vs. Elgin (131)

The Elgin Racers stretched their winning streak to seven games, but had to overcome a hot shooting first half from the Crossover to do it.  Seven Racers scored in double figures, led by 24 points from Brandon Watkins.  Darius Pope led all scorers with 34 points for the Crossover.  Scoring Summary.

Sunday June 11--'06 (Game 193) - Tacoma (114) vs. Eugene (130)

The Chargers earned a measure of revenge with the win, earning a split in their two game series with Thunder in the process.  The Morinia brothers were both outstanding for their respective teams--with older brother Larry scoring 35 points for the Chargers, and Lamar leading the Thunder with 31 points.  JR Patrick poured in 40 points for Eugene to lead all scorers.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 10--'06 (Game 191) - Seattle (110) vs. Portland (108)

Seattle held on to second place in the West Division, and earned their 12th win of the season with the victory.  Rashaad Powell led the Mountaineers with 22 points.  Jason Brown contributed 20 points for Seattle, including five three-pointers.  Fred Hooks scored 26 points to lead the Chinooks.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 10--'06 (Game 190) - Tacoma (133) vs. Eugene (105)

Tacoma coasted to the win against a Eugene squad that had won nine of their last 10 games.  Reggie 'Area Code' Cotton scored 27 points on nine three pointers--joining Dontay Harris and Antone Jarrell who all scored 27 for the Thunder.  Bonell Colas recorded his second straight double-double with 38 points and 16 rebounds.  Scoring Summary.

Saturday June 10--'06 (Game 189) - Lansing (114) vs. Elkhart (129)

Elkhart racked up their fifth straight victory in front of 1,898 fans at North Side Gym.  The win is the 14th of the season for the Express.  Each team had six players score in double figures, with Cedric Moodie's 21 points leading the Express.  Cory Coe scored 33 points for the Capitals to lead all scorers.  Scoring Summary.
