2007 Season Game Results

Saturday, July 21--'07 - 2007 IBL Title Game - Portland (109) vs. Elkhart (113)-- The Elkhart Express (22-4) defended their IBL Championship title against the visiting Portland Chinooks (20-6). The Express defeated the Chinooks 113 to 109 in front of 3,400 fans to secure their spot as IBL Champions for one more season. This is the first year a team from the west coast has competed in the title game. The Chinooks came out strong leading the Express by 15 points at the end of the first half and continued to dominate well into the second half of play. With 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Express Head Coach Daimon Beathea switched his team to a zone defense to slowdown the Chinooks. The Express used the opportunity to outscore the Chinooks 40-27 in the fourth quarter and take the lead. The Express’ Coleco Buie led all scorers with 22 points. Sunday, July 1--'07 (Game 254) - Portland (119) vs. Santa Barbara (106)-- The Portland Chinooks advanced to the IBL's title game with the win over the Breakers at Warner Pacific College on Sunday. Portland opened up a 33-22 lead in the first quarter, and began the second period on a 16-6 run to take control of the game. David Lucas led all scorers with 36 points, and earned West Region MVP honors in the process. Toby Bailey paced the Breakers with 31 points in the loss. Portland will travel to Elkhart on Saturday, July 21 to square off against the Elkhart Express for the 2007 IBL Championship. Scoring Summary.

Sunday, July 1--'07 (Game 253) - Elkhart (116) vs. Battle Creek (112)-- The Elkhart Express earned a return trip to the IBL title game with Sunday's victory over Battle Creek in front of 2,512 fans at North Side Gym. The Express outscored the Knights 6-2 in the final minute to secure the win. Cedric Moodie had another stellar game for the Express, leading all scorers with 31 points. Moodie was named the East Region MVP. Coleco Buie and Tim Pledger also turned in solid performances in the win, scoring 28 and 21 points respectively. Bobby Madison led the Knights with 22 points. The Express will host the West Region Champion Portland Chinooks for the 2007 IBL Championship on July 21. Scoring Summary.

Sunday, July 1--'07 (Game 252) - 2007 International Basketball League All-Star Game - Southwest All-Stars (151) vs. West All-Stars (148)-- The IBL’s third annual All-Star Game pitted the Southwest Division against the West Division at Warner Pacific College on Sunday. Eugene Chargers Head Coach Chris Denker coached the Southwest squad to a 151-148 win over a West team led by Seattle Mountaineers Head Coach Don Sims. The West led for the majority of the game, but the Southwest staged a late rally, led by Blake Walker’s 18 fourth quarter points—including 13 straight points. Walker finished with 32 points. Las Vegas’ DaJuan Tate led the Southwest All-Stars with 38. Justin Murray of the Everett Explosion led all scorers with 41 points for the West All-Stars. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 30--'07 (Game 251) - Portland (140) vs. Salem (123)--The Chinooks used an outstanding closing performance to upset the top seeded Stampede on Saturday. Portland outscored Salem 39-23 in the fourth quarter to cement the win. The Chinooks will face Santa Barbara in the West Region final at 4:00pm on July 1. David Lucas led the Chinooks with a game high 30 points. Shammgod Wells added 28 points in the victory. Blake Walker topped the Stampede with 26 points. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 30--'07 (Game 250) - Santa Barbara (119) vs. Everett (111)--The Santa Barbara Breakers advanced to the West Region title game with the hotly contested victory over the Explosion in Saturday's regional semifinal. Fred Vinson broke a tie at 110 with a fade-away three pointer with 2 seconds remaining on the shot clock, giving the Breakers a lead they would not relenquish. Lamond Murray scored 24 points, including five treys, to lead Santa Barbara. Rashaad Powell matched Murray's 24 to lead the Explosion. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 30--'07 (Game 249) - Elkhart (127) vs. Elgin (118)-- The Express got back on track against a Racers team that has had their number recently. Elgin had won the previous two meetings, but the Express came out on top in this one--advancing to the East Region Finals (Sunday, July 1). Cedric Moodie poured in a game high 37 points to lead the way for the Express, with Coleco Buie adding 22 points. De Anthony Bowden paced the Racers with 34 points in the defeat. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 30--'07 (Game 248) - Battle Creek (149) vs. Marysville (125)-- The Knights earned a trip to the regional finals with the impressive win over the East's top seed on Saturday. Carlton Aaron led Battle Creek with a 27 point outing. Rickey Willis added 20 points in the win. Michael Brownlee led all scorers with 30 points in the loss. The Knights will play in the East Region Finals on Sunday, July 1 against the defending champion Elkhart Express. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 247) - Salem (146) vs. Lewis County (112)-- The Stampede lived up to their top seed in the West, using a balanced attack to overwhelm the Raptors on Friday. Seven Stampede players scored in double figures, led by 27 points from Mike Tabb. Ronnie Ross led all scorers with 29 points for the Raptors. The Stampede will next face the loaded Portland Chinooks at 8:00pm on June 30 for a trip to the West Region Finals. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 246) - Everett (145) vs. Vancouver (114)-- The Explosion cruised into the second round behind a record breaking night from Chris Weakley. Weakley set the IBL playoff record with 10 three pointers, en route to a game high 34 points. Rashaad Powell added 23 points for Everett. Alex Hartman paced the Volcanoes with 25 points. Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 245) - Portland (151) vs. Las Vegas (130)-- The Chinooks and Stars battled through a tightly contested first half before Portland took control in the second half. The Chinooks had too much firepower in the interior, with David Lucas and Bonell Colas combining for 73 points in the win. Lucas led all scorers with 41 points. DaJuan Tate topped the Stars with 39 points in the loss. The Chinooks will take on top seeded Salem at 8:00pm on Saturday, June 30. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 244) - Santa Barbara (166) vs. C. Oregon (135)--The Hotshots kept it close for the first half, but the Breakers explosive third quarter put the game away. The Breakers outscored the Hotshots 53-22 in the third behind a barrage of three pointers. Santa Barbara hit eleven in the period, including five from Fred Vinson. Lamond Murray was the game's top scorer, pouring in 38 points in the win. Terry Horton led the Hotshots with a 33 point effort. The Breakers will face the Everett Explosion in second round action. Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 243) - Elkhart (142) vs. Chicago Heights (137)-- The Soldiers put a scare in the Express, taking the defending champs to the wire before Elkhart could put the game away. Next up for the Express is a match-up with the Elgin Racers. Elgin has had Elkhart's number the second half of the season, winning two straight against the Express. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 242) - Elgin (158) vs. Grand Rapids (134)-- Elgin continued their outstanding season on Friday, earning a berth in the second round with the win over the Flight. DeAnthony Bowden paced all scorers with 36 points in the win. Sherick Simpson pitched in 20 points for Elgin. Derek Hollyfield scored 26 points to lead the Flight. The Racers will sqaure off against the defending champion Elkhart Express on Saturday, June 30 in second round action. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 29--'07 (Game 241) - Battle Creek (133) vs. Holland (122)--The Knights and Blast kicked off the 2007 IBL playoffs--with the Knights prevailing to advance to the second round. Bobby Madison led the way for Battle Creek, finishing with a game high 30 points. Nick Zachery added 24 points in the win. Dennis Springs and Carlton Epps each scored 23 points to top the Blast. Saturday, June 30--07 (Game 240) - Las Vegas (175) vs. Oregon All-Stars (171)--The Las Vegas Stars ended their first season in the International Basketball League with a victory, defeating the Oregon All-Stars 175-171 on Saturday. All seven Stars players that saw action scored in double figures in the win, led by 32 points from DaJuan Tate. Terry Horton paced the All-Stars with a game high 50 points, including 17 in the first quarter. Scoring Summary.

Tuesday, June 26--'07 (Game 239) - Everett (130) vs. Seattle (120)-- The Everett Explosion closed out an impressive regular season with a 133-120 victory in front of 2,065 fans at the Everett Events Center on Tuesday. The Explosion earned the #2 seed in the west bracket of the IBL playoffs with a 16-4 record, and will open postseason play with a first round match-up with the Vancouver Volcanoes on June 29. Rashaad Powell paced the Explosion with 22 points in the win. Jamaal Miller continues to shine since his return to the lineup, adding 21 points for Everett. Sunday, June 24--'07 (Game 238) - Everett (113) vs. Seattle (102)-- The Explosion secured the West Division title with Sunday’s victory over the Mountaineers at Bellevue Community College. These same squads will play again at the Everett Events Center on Tuesday, June 26 in the regular season finale for both. Rashaad Powell scored 30 points to lead all scorers for the Explosion. Sunday, June 24--'07 (Game 237) - Marysville (123) vs. Akron (115)-- The Meteors secured the top seed in the East for the upcoming IBL playoffs with the victory over the Energy on Sunday. Michael Brownlee had another solid outing for the Meteors, leading the team with 31 points. Deon Rose and Adrick Hills each added 17 points in the win. R. Norwood led all scorers with 33 points for the Energy. Scoring Summary.

Sunday, June 24--'07 (Game 236) - Vancouver (132) vs. Phoenix (118)-- The visiting Valconoes picked up a much needed win number 6 against the Flame on Sunday. Brad Lechtenburg led all scorers with 34 followed by Sam Moore with 23 points for the Volcanoes. Phoenix's Brandon Bardwell led the team with 25. Del Summers and Stephen Moss-Kelley contributed 23 and 20 points respectively for the Flame. Phoenix looks to seek revenge on the Volcanoes when they match up again on Tuesday night.

Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 235) - Vancouver (123) vs. Santa Barbara (129)-- The Breakers closed out their inaugural regular season in the IBL on a nine game winning streak, following their victory over the Volcanoes in front of a sellout crowd of 1,994 at Santa Barbara City College on Saturday. Billy Knight led a balanced Santa Barbara attack, scoring 20 points to lead seven Breakers in double figures. Trayvon Lathan narrowly missed a triple-double, scoring 18 points, grabbing 10 boards and doling out 7 assists. Porter Troupe led the Volcanoes with a 22 point effort. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 234) - Central Oregon (157) vs. Salem (178)-- The Stampede closed out an impressive 2007 regular season with Saturday’s win over the Hotshots. Salem won the Southwest Division with a league-best record of 17-3. Antone Jarrell broke the IBL single game scoring record with a 68 point outburst to lead the Stampede. Jeff Dunn added 35 points in the win. Phillip Freeman paced the Hotshots with 41 points. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 233) - Tennessee (116) vs. Elgin (124)-- The Racers put the finishing touches on an impressive ’07 regular season with the win over the visiting Hurricanes on Saturday. The Racers ended the season on a four game winning streak, and won nine of their last 11 overall. Sherick Simpson led Elgin with a game high 34 points. Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 232) - Chicago Heights (116) vs. Battle Creek (147)-- The Knights ended the regular season on a two game winning streak with Saturday’s victory over the Soldiers at Kellogg Arena. An impressive eight Knights scored in double figures in the win, led by 30 points from Karlton Mims. Mike Hadley was the game’s top scorer, finishing with 34 points for Chicago Heights. Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 231) - Elkhart (130) vs. Marysville (117)-- The Express avenged a three point loss to the Meteors in their previous outing with an impressive road win over Marysville on Saturday. The two East Division powerhouses are now knotted at 19-4 on the season, with Elkhart holding a 2-1 edge in the season series. Cedric Moodie was the game's top scorer with a game high 34 points for the Express. Aaron Turner led seven Meteors in double figures with 19 points. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 23--'07 (Game 230) - Lansing (120) vs. Holland (196)-- The Blast cruised to the convincing win over the visiting Capitals behind an impressive three point shooting barrage. Holland drained 34 threes en route to the 76 point win at the Holland Civic Center. Mike VanHekken had his best outing as a member of the Blast, scoring 41 points to lead Holland. Howard Jones was the games top scorer, finishing with 49 points for the Capitals in the loss. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 229) - Tacoma (107) vs. Salem (137)-- The Stampede picked up win number 16 with the victory over the Jazz. Blake Walker was the game's top scorer, finishing with 37 points for the Stampede. Ryan Skinner had his best outing of the season, with 29 points in the win. Lorenzo Rollins scored 26 points to pace the visiting Jazz.

Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 228) - Vancouver (117) vs. Santa Barbara (133)-- The Breakers won their eighth straight game—and their 10th in 11 tries—with the victory over the Volcanoes in front of 1,471 fans at the Sports Pavilion at Santa Barbara City College on Friday. The Breakers took control of the game in the third quarter, extending a five point half time advantage to 20 after three periods. Fred Vinson led the charge, breaking his own IBL record for three point shooting in the process. Vinson sank a record 15 three pointers, including six in the Breakers breakout third quarter, en route to a game high 46 points. On June 2, Vinson went 14 of 21 from behind the arc to set the short-lived record for made three pointers in a single game. Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 227) - Central Oregon (147) vs. Portland (178)-- The Chinooks closed out an impressive regular season with a solid win over the visiting Hotshots at the Stott Center on Friday. Central Oregon pulled within five points early in the fourth quarter before the Chinooks pulled away to seal the victory. David Lucas returned to action following a prolonged absence due to a hand injury to score 59 points in the win. Lucas' 59 point outburst matches the league best this season, and marks his the second time he eclipsed the 50 point barrier in 2007. Paul Hafford was outstanding in the loss. The Portland State University alumnus was clearly comfortable in the arena of his alma mater, scoring 47 points for the Hotshots.

Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 226) - Elkhart (117) vs. Marysville (120)-- The Meteors improved to 19-3 on the season with a hard-fought victory over the Express (18-4) on Friday. The win gives Marysville a half game edge in the East Division with a huge rematch on deck for tomorrow night. Marysville had the lead for the first three quarters before Elkhart rallied to take a five point lead in the final period. The Meteors weathered the comeback, and closed out the game down the stretch—avenging a two-point road loss to the Express on May 4. Michael Brownlee was tremendous for the victorious Meteors, finishing with a game high 38 points, including eight three pointers. Tim Pledger hit six treys en route to 32 points to lead the Express. Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 225) - Tennessee (114) vs. Holland (134)-- The Blast dispatched the Hurricanes at the Holland Civic Center on Friday. Dennis Springs and Dominick Melton led a balanced Blast attack with 20 points each in the win. Titus Lucas topped the Hurricanes with 25 points. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 22--'07 (Game 224) - Phoenix (128) vs. Las Vegas (206)--The Stars ran roughshod over an injury plagued Phoenix squad to close out the regular season for both teams. DaJuan Tate, the IBL's leading scorer, poured in 46 points to lead all scorers for Las Vegas.

Thursday, June 21--'07 (Game 223) - Chicago Heights (157) vs. Lewis Co. (167)--The Raptors got a much needed trip back to the win column with the victory over the Soldiers on Thursday. Chucky Frierson and Lewis Lofton keyed the win for Lewis County--with Frierson scoring 42 points, and Lofton adding 40. The Raptors had to overcome a spectacular outing from Terry Horton, as Horton poured in 56 points in the loss. Scoring Summary.

Thursday, June 21--'07 (Game 222) - Tennessee (121) vs. Battle Creek (147)-- The Knights put a halt to their two game losing skid with Thursday’s victory over the Hurricanes at Kellogg Arena. Lamont Barnes’ 27 points led a balanced Battle Creek attack featuring eight players scoring in double figures. Ashley Champion and Antonio Lambert each scored 24 points to pace the Hurricanes. Thursday, June 21--'07 (Game 221) - Phoenix (136) vs. Las Vegas (153)-- The Stars reeled off their third straight victory on Thursday with the win over the visiting Flame. DaJuan Tate led all scorers with a 40 point outing for the Stars. Elliot Goren added 30 points in the win. Jay Snider topped the Flame with a 36 point effort.

Wednesday, June 20--'07 (Game 220) - Tennessee (119) vs. Elkhart (152)-- The Express won their 18th game of the season with the victory over the Hurricanes on Wednesday in front of 2,341 fans at North Side Gym. The win moves the Express into a tie for first place with the Marysville Meteors in the East Division, with a two game road trip to Marysville on deck to close out the season. Cedric Moodie was the game’s top scorer, pouring in 36 points for the Express in the win. Antonio Lambert scored 30 points to top the Hurricanes. Scoring Summary.

Tuesday, June 19--'07 (Game 219) - Chicago Heights (97) vs. Eugene (124)-- The Chargers closed out their regular season with the win over the Soldiers on Tuesday. The Chargers will head into the playoffs with a record of 11-9. Solomon Yearby scored 22 points to pace Eugene. Rodrick Stevenson added 19 points in the victory. Monday, June 18--'07 (Game 218) - Chicago Heights (105) vs. Everett (146)--The Explosion opened a 20 point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Everett can lock up the IBL West Division title with one more victory. Donald Watts paced the Explosion with 29 points. Watts went 5 of 6 from behind the arc. The Soldiers' Anthony Kyle led all scorers with 35 points. Kyle has scored a combined 89 points in his last two outings. Scoring Summary.

Sunday, June 17--'07 (Game 217) - Eugene (107) vs. Portland (152)-- The Portland Chinooks improved to 16-6 on the season with the convincing victory over the visiting Chargers on Sunday. The win is the sixth for Portland in their last seven attempts. The loss ends Eugene’s three game winning streak. David Jackson and Damon King keyed the win for the Chinooks. Jackson finished with a game high 31 points, and King contributed 30 points. Solomon Yearby scored 19 points to lead the Chargers. Scoring Summary.

Sunday, June 17--'07 (Game 216) - Santa Barbara (161) vs. Chico (159)-- The Breakers improved their winning streak to seven games with the hard-fought overtime victory over the Chico Force on Sunday. Billy Knight returned to his early-season form, scoring 26 points to pace an impressive eight Breakers in double figures. Tyree Jones exploded for 59 points for the Force to lead all scorers. Sunday, June 17--'07 (Game 215) - Battle Creek (135) vs. Elkhart (141)-- The Express recovered from their first home loss of the season in their previous outing with Sunday’s victory over the Knights. Seven Express players finished with double figures in scoring, led by Coleco Buie’s 28 points. Elkhart’s leading scorer Cedric Moodie pitched in 26 points. Sunday, June 17--'07 (Game 214) - Chicago Heights (176) vs. Central Oregon (194) The Hotshots and Soldiers put on an offensive showcase on Sunday, with the Hotshots prevailing by the score of 194-176. Central Oregon’s 194 points is an unofficial IBL record, pending a measurement of Life Christian School’s basketball court to ensure the floor meets league standards. Brandon Erlandson led seven Hotshots in double figures with 45 points. Paul Hafford, Central Oregon’s leading scorer, added 31 points in the win. Saturday, June 16--'07 (Game 212) - Arizona (119) vs. Phoenix (137)-- The Flame staged a furious comeback to complete a two-game sweep of the Lightning. Phoenix trailed by 19 points after the first period, and by as many as 25 points in the second quarter before rallying to take control of the game. Jamal Livingston led the Flame with a 26 point outing, with Devin Greene pitching in 24 points. Charles Gosa paced the Lightning with a game high 37 points. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 16--'07 (Game 211) - Chicago Heights (101) vs. Vancouver (114)-- The Volcanoes ended a four game losing skid with the victory over Chicago Heights on Saturday. Brad Lechtenberg and Porter Troupe scored 24 points apiece to top the Volcanoes. In total, six Volcanoes scored in double figures in the win. Saturday, June 16--'07 (Game 210) - Lewis County (114) vs. Eugene (161)-- The Chargers recorded their third straight win by dispatching the visiting Raptors on Saturday. Charles Easterling and Solomon Yearby each scored 32 points to lead the way for the Chargers. Easterling also grabbed 17 rebounds, and Yearby dished out 10 assists. Saturday, June 16--'07 (Game 209) - Battle Creek (137) vs. Elgin (150)-- The Elgin Racers continue to look like contenders for the 2007 IBL crown, defeating the Battle Creek Knights in front of 322 fans at the Spartan Events Center on Saturday. DeAnthony Bowden had another stellar outing for the Racers, leading the team with 34 points in the win. Sherick Simpson added 31 points for Elgin. Friday, June 15--'07 (Game 208) - Central Oregon (137) vs. Salem (180)-- The Salem Stampede improved to 15-3 on the season with the victory over the Hotshots on Friday. The Stampede actually trailed by 15 points after the first quarter, before outscoring the Hotshots by the score of 153-95 over the final three periods. Blake Walker and Antone Jarell each scored 41 points to lead the way for the Stampede. Mike Tabb added 35 points and 15 rebounds. Friday, June 15--'07 (Game 207) - Santa Barbara (135) vs. Chico (116)-- The Breakers recorded their fifth consecutive win with the victory over the Force on Friday. The loss snaps a two game winning streak for Chico. Santa Barbara used a 19-4 run in the third quarter to break open a close contest, and the Breakers never looked back. Five Breakers scored at least 22 points, led by 26 from Toby Bailey. Trayvon Lathan and Tyler Newton each scored 23 points in the win. Chico was led by 33 points from Tyree Jones. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 15--'07 (Game 206) - Vancouver (110) vs. Eugene (135)-- The Chargers improved to 9-8 on the season with the convincing victory over the Volcanoes on Friday. Charles Easterling keyed the victory for the Chargers, scoring a game high 30 points to go along with 14 rebounds. In total, seven Chargers players scored in double figures. Friday, June 15--'07 (Game 205) - Seattle (151) vs. Lewis County (98)-- The Seattle Mountaineers made it seven in a row with the victory over the Raptors on Friday. Seattle’s seven game winning streak is the longest current mark in the league. Lemar Gayle and Lynell Ingram were both outstanding in the win. Gayle led all scorers with 42 points, with Ingram adding 33. Jamal Walker had his best outing of the season for the Raptors, leading the team with 35 points. Scoring Summary.

Friday, June 15--'07 (Game 204) - Arizona (133) vs. Phoenix (140)-- The Phoenix Flame bounced back from a tough defeat in their last outing to best the Lightning on Friday. Devin Greene paced the Flame with 31 points. Jamal Livingston added 29 points in the win. Gerald Williams poured in 37 points for the Lightning to lead all scorers. Scoring Summary.

Saturday, June 9--'07 (Game 197) - Santa Barbara (141) vs. Las Vegas (130)-- The Breakers made it four in a row with Saturday’s victory over the Stars. The Breakers move to 10-5 on the season with the win, while the loss drops the Stars to 6-4. Despite being outscored 37-16 in the second quarter, the Stars rallied to take a 113-110 lead in the final period before the Breakers took control for good. Trayvon Lathan had his second consecutive triple-double, with a game high 31 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. Friday, June 8--'07 (Game 191) - Eugene (153) vs. Central Oregon (165)--The Hotshots put an end to their four game losing skid with the overtime win over the visiting Chargers. Five Hotshots scored at least 23 points, with Paul Hafford’s 32 points leading the way. Central Oregon's point guard Arthur Lewis recorded a triple-double with 11 steals and 11 assists to go along with his 26 points. Phillip Freeman had his best game as a Hotshot, finishing with 31 points and 8 blocked shots—including 3 blocks in the extra period. The Stampede snapped the Chinooks’ winning streak at four games, while extending their own winning streak to three with the 126-125 win on Friday. The Breakers defeated the Stars on Friday to increase their winning streak to three games. The Breakers were deadly from the perimeter in the victory, shooting 23 of 46 from three point range. Fred Vinson was particularly outstanding for the Breakers, making 9 of 14 three pointers to finish with a team high 35 points. The Mountaineers won their sixth consecutive game with a late rally to overcome the Racers Friday. Antwon Jones hit a floater in the lane with 20 seconds left to give the Mountaineers a one-point edge, and, ultimately, the victory. Lemar Gayle led Seattle with a 27 point effort. Brandon Watkins was the game’s top scorer with 30 points in the loss.
